Yinon Bar Shir
Yinon Bar-Shir Is A Bay Area Sports Fan
Yinon Bar-Shir loves basketball and the Bay Area, so it is no surprise that he can often be found in the Oracle Arena cheering on the Golden State Warriors. In 2007, he even traveled to Salt Lake City to witness the heartbreaking fifth game of the second-round playoffs against the Jazz. When he isn’t attending a Warriors game or watching them at home, he plays amateur basketball himself. As a Dorell Wright fan, he loves practicing three-point shots, though he admits he can’t compete with Wright’s record. Yinon Bar-Shir also follows the Phoenix Suns and sometimes finds the time to fly down to Phoenix to visit the Purple Palace. He is a big fan of Steve Nash, another great three-point shooter.
Yinon Bar-Shir sees basketball as more than just a great way to get in some exercise. He admires the game because it requires both quick thinking and athletic grace. Besides watching and playing basketball, he can also frequently be found reading up on its history and meeting with other fans to participate in a fantasy league. He considers himself a basketball trivia buff as well, and his friends like to call him a walking encyclopedia when it comes to player statistics and records.
Yinon Bar-Shir‘s love of sports goes beyond just basketball. He has loved baseball ever since he was a boy. During baseball season, he avidly follows the fortunes of the San Francisco Giants. 2010 was an emotional year for him: he suffered along with his team during the rough opening stretch and finally saw his devotion rewarded when his team triumphed over the Texas Rangers at the World Series. He was there at Game 2, when the Giants won a stunning shutout against the Rangers. To Yinon Bar-Shir, the victory proved that loyalty is rewarded in the end.
